University of Chicago Laboratory Schools

The University of Chicago Laboratory Schools are home to the youngest members of the University of Chicago’s academic community. From Nursery-3 to U-High, Lab’s 2,221 students have unmatched access to the University of Chicago’s world-class academic community.  Whether they’re visiting the ducks at Botany Pond, sipping milkshakes at the C-Shop, studying at the Reg, or pursuing advanced academic interests at the College, Labbies thrive in an educational environment unlike any other independent school in the nation.  With 62 percent of families affiliated with the University of Chicago, Lab proudly celebrates its strong connection to the University community.

Maximize your support for Lab on Giving Day

Your support can unlock extraordinary opportunities for Lab students! On Giving Day, Lab's alumni and parent communities are joining together to further the impact of your gift with a special challenge.

50 Donor Challenge

When Lab reaches 50 unique donors, a $5,000 gift from an anonymous, multigenerational group of alumni on Lab’s Alumni Association Executive Board will be unlocked.

100 Donor Challenge

Reaching 100 unique donors will unlock an additional $10,000 gift from an anonymous Lab family that includes a University of Chicago faculty member.

Why support the Laboratory Schools?

Like its independent school peers, Lab depends on philanthropy to support our thriving community. The cost of educating a child at Lab exceeds tuition revenue—and generous donations are necessary to ensure Lab remains accessible to all families.

That's where the Fund for Lab comes in. Supporting the Fund for Lab means providing vital, unrestricted operating funds, financial aid, and academic resources that help bridge the gap between tuition revenue and actual costs.

As of today, the Fund for Lab is 72 percent of the way to its $1.3 million goal for the 2024–2025 school year. By making your annual contribution on Giving Day, you’ll maximize the impact of your gift on the Fund for Lab—and on the students who are proud to call Lab home.
