Description

The Urban Health Initiative (UHI) facilitates UChicago Medicine’s efforts to address the complex health and social needs of residents on the South Side of Chicago. UHI uses a collaborative, community-based partnership approach to create access to high-quality and culturally competent healthcare information and services to empower community members to live their healthiest lives.

To inspire more donors to support UHI, an anonymous donor has issued a generous donor challenge: they will add $1,000 to the total if 25 donors make a Giving Day gift of any size to UHI.

Donations are applied to...

Collective support on Giving Day will help foster strong, lasting relationships with civic leaders, community organizations, healthcare providers, and community members to strategically improve health and access to quality care on the South Side of Chicago.

This Giving Day, you can help improve this access through your support of patient care, community-based research, and medical education programs.

Why are donations necessary?

Your gift is important for advancing the Urban Health Initiative’s key programs: providing comprehensive in-hospital violence recovery and community health worker engagement to address health care needs in a variety of settings. You can help UHI provide care and build community-based networks aimed at improving health outcomes for residents living in historically underserved areas of Chicago.

“Navigating the healthcare system is difficult, even for those of us that are professionals. I want to be that bridge between healthcare and the community.”

—Malik Stuckey, Senior Patient Advocate
