Description
The Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering represents an audacious, once-in-a-generation undertaking in higher education: to build an R1 engineering program from the ground up—one that is not beholden to traditional disciplines but instead organizes itself around solving the greatest problems of our age. From reinventing our global energy grid sustainably to engineering the immune system to building quantum computers with extraordinary capacities, PME is boldly developing new technologies to improve human life.

Your Giving Day gift to the Matthew Tirrell Fellowship Fund directly supports PME graduate students—the beating heart of our burgeoning research enterprise. By supporting our exceptional students, you allow them to focus on their coursework and research unhindered by financial concerns.
Why are donations necessary?
As one of the newest engineering schools in the United States, PME’s success rests on its ability to draw outstanding young scholars and give them the freedom to tackle the great engineering challenges of our day. By providing opportunities for graduate students, you’re also attracting top faculty, whose presence, in turn, creates even more opportunity for students. UChicago’s engineering program is growing rapidly, with PhD enrollment up over 60 percent in the past four years. With your help, we’ll remain a leader in training the next generation of scientists and engineers while also producing preeminent research on the world’s most pressing problems.
