Description
The Institute for the Study of Ancient Cultures (ISAC) is one of the world's premier research centers for the study of ancient West Asia and North Africa. As part of the UChicago community, ISAC is deeply engaged with the University’s undergraduate and graduate students. At ISAC, UChicago students participate in research projects and fieldwork, lead educational programs for Chicago-area schools, share their work at ISAC-sponsored events, and teach classes in our adult education program. Through all these opportunities and more, ISAC inspires future generations to understand and appreciate our shared human heritage.

Why are donations necessary?
“As a history major, much of my coursework and research has focused on debates within academic history. However, working at ISAC has allowed me to think about historical narratives alongside the wider community. I’ve really enjoyed thinking about the past with so many different people who have come to visit ISAC in the past two years.” —Elena Tiedens, AB’25, AM’25, ISAC Museum educator
Every day, UChicago students come to ISAC to study, teach, and carry out research. Your gift of any amount provides essential support for the programs and resources that engage students in all aspects of ISAC’s work.
This Giving Day, your donation will go even further thanks to a generous challenge funded by ISAC Council member John Lawrence, who has pledged to donate $3,500 if we reach our goal of 100 unique gifts. While gifts of any amount count toward this challenge, donors who give $100 or more will receive a coupon for 20 percent off their next purchase at the ISAC Museum gift shop (excluding rugs).
