Description
For over 25 years, the Center for the Study of Race, Politics, and Culture (CSRPC) has worked to build a more just campus, city, and world.
Community + Care = Change is at the heart of the center’s work, and we invite you to help us advance this important work.
As a hub of antiracist practice and research, CSRPC has been a brave and nurturing space for countless students, staff, faculty, and community members since our founding in 1996.
On this Giving Day, you can help CSRPC ensure its next quarter century of advancing scholarship, arts, and public dialogue to critically examine the centrality of race and racism in society. This research and practice agenda has never been more important!
Donations are applied to...
Support for Our Groundbreaking Beyond Prisons Initiative
CSRPC’s newest initiative, Beyond Prisons, offers the University a unique and innovative approach to community-centered pedagogy, research, and civic engagement that reaches beyond prison walls and extends into the communities most affected by mass incarceration.
Specifically, your gift will help support:
- Community-engaged courses bringing UChicago students and community members together in the same classroom
- Community-based research initiatives focused on challenging mass incarceration
- Internships for students seeking careers in law, criminal justice reform, education justice, and more
- Travel scholarships to conferences for students and community members
- Practitioner fellowships that advance justice-centered scholarship, arts, and praxis
Support Our Work to Reimagine the University
In 2023, CSRPC revamped its mission and vision statements and put those words to work by funding research and programming to reimagine the University as an inclusive place for all people working across disciplines, intersecting identities, geographies, and ways of knowing.
Specifically, your gift will help support:
- Grants to fund undergraduate, graduate, and faculty research and scholarship
- Free arts and cultural programming open to all community and University members
- Public-facing events that engage the broader University community to reimagine socially just spaces of belonging
Support Graduate and Undergraduate Students
For the past 25 years, CSRPC has empowered students across the University community to deepen their—and our—understanding and scholarship regarding the role of race and racism in society at large. Your support is vital to powering the next generation of antiracist leaders and thinkers.
Specifically, your gift will help support:
- Grants for undergraduate student research, art, or activism projects
- Grants for graduate student dissertation fellows whose research explores race and racism
- Grants for student cocurricular workshops, writing, and study groups that explore and examine issues of race, racism, politics, and culture
Why are donations necessary?
Community + Care = Change
CSRPC’s vision is to bring people together to advance antiracist research and practice and ultimately to create change. We are all students and teachers; we work together to create knowledge and nurture spaces of growth, compassion, respect, freedom, and joy.
Your gift during Giving Day will help secure a brighter tomorrow for each and every one of us.
